April – May

Well, it’s been a busy month, May! Just after the scintillatingly spectacular ‘Sisters in Song’ at Sacred Spaces (how sibilant was that?) on May 4th, I teamed up again with Josephine Tam to sing at Paddington Presbyterian Aged Care – for a Mother’s Day concert on May 8th, and then again at the end of the month on May 29th. Belinda McGlynn and I also performed a concert at Montefiore in Hunters Hill on April 28th, which served as a rehearsal for the Sacred Spaces gig, but was also highly successful in its own right.

Two fabulous new costumes were aired (thanks to Charing Cross St Vinnies and the Chapel by the Sea seconds shop), but more importantly, new material – duets from Cosi Fan Tutte, The Marriage of Figaro, Hansel and Gretel and West Side Story, a new Strauss song from the movie The Great Waltz –   ‘One Day When We Were Young’, La Vie en Rose (Edith Piaf – did you know she actually wrote the words!), By the light of the silvery moon, I can give you the starlight *(Ivor Novello)… and Josie did a wonderful performance of ‘Poor Wandering One’ from The Pirates of Penzance, and the ‘Doll Song’ from Tales of Offenbach

We made people laugh and cry, but as always, the pleasure was mutual. I can’t express how much happiness I get from giving a great concert that brings such joy to people’s faces.
